This is mostly what I'm allowing you to do, and not allowing you to do in in character posts.
I am letting you know this first and foremost, this site is not a PG site. I know you may think that a prestigious school such a Beauxbatons should be clean, strict, however, that's not the plot of this board.
Swearing is allowed. Why...? Well, I'm not exactly sure, I just think that it adds more to the board, I mean seriously, some people do happen to have habits such as swearing a lot.
Sexually explicit threads should be kept tasteful. And I do mean tasteful, okay, not trashy, I mean we do have a reputation to keep up.
Younger students are not allowed to have special powers (such as being an animagus), it takes years to develop them, you can' t just instantly have something. It takes time, such as with lessons, your character will not - understand this, WILL NOT - get everything right on the first try. That's not real life, I want you to think in realistic thoughts with your character. If you do want to have a special power though, PLEASE ASK ME!! I'm not going to allow everyone to have a special power, but once in a while, I may, depends on what that power is though. In your later years as a student, like say 6th and 7th, if you ask for a power that way, well I'll think about it, and you probably will get the answer of yes if you have a good enough reason or good enough power that isn't too bad for a student to have.
Same goes with professors, and everyone else in the wizarding world, ask me about it. And the same also goes with special powerful objects that could be a threat or even might not be, just ask me.
Occasionally, if people do want this to happen to their character, students - no younger then in their 6th year I believe- will be allowed to become pregnant. But this is only occasionally, and you have to ask me, and ONLY ME, before you do anything of the sort. If I deny you this request, well, just leave it at that. People who think they can go and ask someone else that is an admin will find that they'll be denied again. I'm making sure that any and all questions that take place, are run by me before other people answer them.
As with adults, just let me know if your character is going to become pregnant, I'd like to keep tabs on all the pregnant woman on the site, make sure that we don't have too many people with raging hormones, it could spell trouble some day.
Drugs are not allowed among students, neither is alcohol - like fire whiskeys - UNLESS you ask me. Though if you would please read -this essay- on food and drinks in the wizarding world, It does happen to have some stuff on the consumption of alcohol. Students, anyways, would probably not be able to get any of such, only adults. Just think the muggle world beer stores anyways, do you really think they'd sell a student anything like that...? Though, still, if you do want such to happen, ask me, it really depends on the situation I think.
There is to be no discrimination or harassment on this site, at least, in out-of-character I mean. If that's how your character is, like if they're part of the more darker side of the student body, or they're basically a bully, or something of the sort, then it's alright I guess. Though, personal issues with any member on this site from another site, these personal issues should not be be brought to this site. You don't have to like everyone on the site, I know I don't always like everyone that joins up on the site, but I have to be nice because I'm the main admin. It's just common courtesy, and I expect you to polite and well mannered toward everyone, even if you don't like them or not.
I do expect that most of you know what writing in third person means, if you're new to role-playing and aren't sure how to write as such, PM me and I'll give you an example or two. Why must - and believe me, you MUST - you write in third person...? Well, it makes it easier and more understandable to read, and more organized as well.
Net speak (such as 'laugh out loud', 'btw', 'u', et cetera) is prohibited. It's nonsense basically, and who cares if it's faster! I most certainly don't. And believe, I'm upholding this, if you want to use net speak in private messages, or IMs, go ahead, but I don't want to see any net speak anywhere - this includes the chat board.
Short posts such as "She sips her drink," come on people, surely you can do better then that? I refuse to see one liners on this board, if it is not three lines long as least then you can forget it. Besides, one liners add nothing to the RP most of the time, and after a while of just non-stop one liners, come on, it gets lame and boring.
OCC (out of character) messages such as "I'll be back later" and "Talk to you tomorrow," or stuff like that, is basically prohibited. If you need to write an OOC message that pertains to your post, like explaining what you meant by such and such, then I guess it's okay. But nonsense stuff that isn't such stuff as translating, or explaining something, just don't do that stuff.
If you want to say "I'll be back later" or something, private message that person for crying out loud. It may take a little while longer, but oh well, get over it.
Proper grammar should be used at all times. I know most of you know proper grammer, and some of you may not like it, but it makes the board more professional looking, it makes the RP more understandable.
Just look at say...chorus concerts. Proper pronunciation, tone, professional look, correct pitch, proper stance, et cetera, all that makes it so that it's clear and understandable for the audience - not the look maybe, but facial expressions do help out in giving a better feel for the song. Plus at my school, we're supposed to wear white shirts, and black bottoms, with black dress shoes if possible, for boys, they're supposed to have ties, and for girls, our hair has to be tied back away from our faces, it gives us a more professional look.
Blood, gore, killing, and such things are allowed, but ONLY if you have PERMISSION from that character and they are willing to allow that to happen to their character.
Power-playing and God-modding are absolutely NOT allowed. Only God-Modding is allowed IF you, again, have PERMISSION. Your first year character, could never take on my 28 year old Deputy headmistress character, and expect to win. Please refrain, also, from making your character the smartest, or the most popular, or beautiful or handsome, or 'perfect', or stuff like that out of the whole school. It's okay for your character to be one of the smartest people in the school, or to be one of the more popular kids in school, or one of the more beautiful girls, and one of the more handsome guys in school, or someone that SEEMS perfect but really isn't. No one can be the best at everything, it's one of the facts of life. Including being friends with everyone as well, you've got to think, that just because they TEND to be friends with everyone, they will have some enemies.
If you are homophobic - I guess if your character is, it's alright, but I mean in real life -, it's probably not best for you to be here. I am allowing bisexuals, gays, and lesbians, I mean seriously, I'm bisexual myself, I go to school too, just because some of us may hide it, doesn't mean we aren't there. And Beauxbatons will have these types of people if people want them.
And, if out of character - in character I don't mind I guess - I find ANYONE discriminating ANYONE about their sexual preferences, well....I guess I'll be banning such people. I don't take well to discrimination, and I'm pretty sure many other people don't take well to it as well.
Something I'm not rather fond of, is that students write in their bios what house they're sorted into already, don't do that. I will sort you, not you. I will decide what house is best for you, and also that house may not always be available to new students - such as if people prefer one house over the rest, and it starts filling up with too many students, it becomes unbalanced, and I'd rather much like to see that the houses are balanced out enough rather then having a lot of students in one, and then only a very few in another. Try getting creative though, I mean we don't all want stuck up preps in this school, just because Fleur Delacour basically was, doesn't mean everyone else in the school is. Too make a good school it means having a variety of students, whether good, bad, smart, average, the 'losers' and 'freaks' and the popular ones, and stuff like that. So you know, I'm not trying to classify anyone, I myself hate titles, though you do get my point, right...?
